griefsense with Mimi Gonzalez
Welcome to "griefsense," a bi-weekly podcast for creatives who are grievers. I'm your host, Mimi Gonzalez, guiding you through discussions about life, death, and 'grief sense,' a unique perspective born from my personal loss and confrontation with mortality.
We'll invite guests to share their stories of loss and healing and how they've tapped into this thought exploration of their #griefsense. Together, we'll explore the intersection of grief, creativity, and mortality, striving to normalize these critical conversations.
griefsense is more than a podcast - it's a community where grievers and creatives are invited to explore, heal, and grow together, redefining the conversation around grief and life itself.

Amonnie & Pop Thomas on: experiencing infant loss & having a baby on the same day a year later
Hey griefsense familia,
This week, I'm bringing you a story that's bound to pull at your heartstrings. I had the honor of chatting with Pop and Amonnie from @ThomasFamilyTies.
Pop's pouring love into every dish over at SoulBowls in Connecticut. Beyond being an incredible chef, he's a testament to resilience. He's faced the profound loss of his son, Hendrixx, and his best friend, Jon. Instead of letting the grief define him, he channeled it, creating dishes that aren't just meals – they're memories.
Amonnie, meanwhile, is nothing short of an inspiration. Juggling the roles of wife, mother, and social media maven, she's lighting up the digital space. From guiding women on their weight loss journeys to navigating the complexities of motherhood and marriage, she's the friend we all need.
Together, they've turned the most painful moment of their lives – losing Hendrixx – into a beacon of hope when they welcomed their Rainbow baby, Nova, on the very same date a year later. It's a story about finding beauty even in the darkest times.
So, as we dive in, get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions. And if their story resonates with you, show them some love by following @ThomasFamilyTies as well as their personal instagrams here: Pop and Amonnie.
